Hi i am new here and need some help. I sometimes get left side front and back shoulder blade pain. It is not severe. I called my doctor and she said chest pain go to e.r. so i did nothing was found. Again it happened i fellasleep after worrying. Another time i went to different e.r. they ran tests and again nothing. Tonight it bothers me once again. I also noticed i got burning feeling in my stomach. I take priolsec 40mg daily. My insurence wants me to see a gi doctor. Sometimes recently i get a funny taste in my mouth that comes up not burning just a odd taste. Should i see a gi doctor? Is the chest discomfort/shoulder blade discomfort associated with this? Thanks for any answers anyone may have.

Hi Angel,

Welcome to HealingWell.

I suggest seeing the GI. GERD does sometimes have back and shoulder pain with it. Your PPI may not be working for you or it could be something else entirely.

Hi there,

Did the ER scan your gall bladder and abdomen with ultrasound? Gall bladder pain can radiate to the shoulder - if it's not been done your primary carer can arrange it for you with liver function tests (a blood test that also shows if any element of jaundice due to gall stones etc).

At this stage it's a question of keeping on knocking on doors until you get answers, and a GI consultant would be a good place to start.

No they didnt scan gall bladdet or do a ultrasound i made a appointment with a gi doc for wednesday. Thanks for you answers.

I occasionally have an ashy taste in my throat - that's the best way I can describe it. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life so I don't have a clue what that tastes like but sometimes when I cough it's like there are ashes in there - it is weird. And I would definitely have my gall bladder checked. Are you having any nausea? I was having severe bouts with nausea - try cleaning houses when you fell absolutely horrible. Once I threw up I was OK - after having my gall bladder checked which was fine - the GI doctor did an endoscopy and found I have IE right where the esophagus enters the stomach. He prescribed a round of endocort and the problem was solved. I hope you have something is easily treatable.

Nausea was always my main symptom and the one that drove me to seek help - just couldn't function feeling sick all day long. I take a ppi now but nausea is always first to appear if I get a flare up.

I been feeling upset stomach and i do get the nausea feeling. The chest and shoulder pain got a little worse i went to e.r they did bloodwork xrays of chest n abdomen gave me torodol that took away chest pain. I told them what i read up on and have a appt on wed. They said abdomen pain discomfort unknown cause and the cartlidge in chest wall the cause of that pain. I dont think that is the cause i am still going on wed. I also read on here about that lump in your throat feeling i have had that for along time now and just assumed it was my tonsils. This morning my stomach isstill upset and chest/shoulderblade fine
