4 days post op

Just got home yesterday 3 days in hospital.1st day after surgery was sick, had plenty of meds worked great, had problems urinating the first night had to put in Cather. Doctor told surgery was the worst he has done due to scaring and was quite complicated and it took twice as long.i am unable to burp, I hiccup once boy that hurt,most everything that I seen on the Internet was true to some degree after surgery.have strict diet for 8 weeks doc said to take everything slow no lifting over 5 pounds for 2 months, have not use GERD med since surgery feels like no need to, a lot of gas and pressure. I know I have a long way to go to totally heal but I"ll trade Nissen side effects any day for the relief

I am at 8 weeks post op. I was a miserable pt. during my immediate recovery. A real cry baby, wanted everything my way. Now I am embarrassed but this forum helped get me through it. I think the advice here was better than I got from the surgeon. I have recovered remarkably well, but I did take the ,advice of this forum and didn't start back to working ,out at the gym until yesterday. I can feel the left side surgical site today. My doc said I could do anything I wanted@ 4 weeks. .I can't even imagine how disastrous that would have been. The best advice is a lot of patience, follow the diet, and take your pain meds and simethecone as prescribed. Rest,rest,rest

Congratulations on making it through what sounds like a rough surgery.  Remember to give yourself plenty of healing time and keep in mind your surgery was more extensive then had been expected.  It takes your body time to recover from the long procedure as well as the long duration of anesthesia.
