I've been having issues since October. I'm currently on AciPhex 20mg 1x per day, and recently started Carafate 4x a day. My GI doctor wanted me to try the Carafate for 2 weeks after my endoscopy showed a duodenal ulcer (small intestine) and esophagitis. He said my stomach looked normal. Biopsies benign and no Barrett's.
I continue to have that vapor feeling in my throat and sore throat shortly after I eat anything. I also sometimes have chest pressure and pain, but no longer 24/7 like I used to, but still daily. Exercise seems to make it worse.
Determined to do everything I could to "fix" things, I've gradually eliminated all refined sugar, breads, milk products, and gluten....and I still get the same symptoms, even with the carafate. Since that didn't work, I'm tempted to reintroduce some of these things back in and see what happens. Does anyone do better eating things like bread? I have no reason to believe I'm allergic to anything at this time, I just eliminated them trying to find my triggers, but it didn't work. I've been eating mainly green vegetables, gluten free oatmeal, yams, some bananas, lean turkey or chicken breast. I've lost 35 pounds since October and hope to lose 20 more pounds in hopes of making things better.
