Hi Guys, thought I'd chime in here. I had strange stomach pain prior to my surgery....like my stomach lining always seemed inflamed. It just developed out of nowhere and didn't stop. PPIs had close to zero effect. I started regurgitating almost everything I ate and drank. During this time, I started to develop burning on my tongue. No problems in the throat....just the tongue. All the tests I had confirmed acid reflux. I had one GI say not to have the surgery, another who said I should have it. Post surgery, I have had zero regurgitation. It has been almost 4 months for me. However, about a month after my surgery, my stomach started hurting again and my tongue started burning, as well. I started taking probiotics/enzymes and I believe they help, but definitely do not cure anything. Based on what others have told me on this forum, I have been holding off on having further examinations of my stomach, as I'm trying to give myself the proper healing time. However, if I'm still having these issues and the pain is as strong as it is now, I will be seeing my GI by the 6 month mark. I know, for me, my tongue burning is directly related to my stomach pain. When the stomach pain increases, the tongue pain increases. After seeing an ENT, she said my tongue issue was more of a nerve signal problem and is probably related to anxiety....that reflux effects the back of your throat, not your tongue. As of today, I have started to keep a food/medicine journal, as I cannot seem to figure out why my stomach flares up inside some days more than others. Now that I've had the surgery, it causes even more pain in my surgical sites, especially the upper stomach, which is where I had all of my pain previously. If any of you figure out anything, please let me know, as I suffer every day. Thanks!
