Hi all today is the day. In about 4 hours I will have my surgery. Please pray for a safe outcome. I'm not real scarred right now. Will let yOu know how things are going as I can.

Hey LJRitchie!

I look forward to hearing from you after your surgery. Don't be nervous! Easier said than done, I know. But remember - most just remember getting the sedative and then waking up in recovery.

Can't wait to hear from you again! You are on the road to recovery.

Hi : I am home after a 6 night hospital stay and am getting around really well. I start in full liquid diet tomorrow and am looking forward to not being so hungry. As of 9 days post op I have no symptoms of any acid reflux.

I was a little hesitant to post because I had a problem during the surgery which caused them to open me up and put back together with 23 staples. I dont want to scare anyone, so I won't go into detail here unless asked. It is all fine now and I am on the other side and am recovering more from the incision than the actual Neissen. I had a fabulous surgeon and would recommend him highly. The hardest part for me regarding the surgery itself so far other than my incision is th 10 days clear diet. My throat barely hurt and I was given mouth spray in the hospital. I got good pain meds and am on lortab liquid now.

I just woke up a little while ago to find a small water looking bluster on my incision site and wondered if anyone knew what this is? It's pretty sore but I don't want to disturb it. Any ideas? Thanks for your well wishes.

Welcome to the yeah yeah yeah Wrapped Club! yeah yeah yeah Glad to hear you're home and feeling well.  Sorry you had additional problems in the hospital and required additional surgery.  Still, it sounds like all is well now, and that's what really matters.  Glad to hear that you have a surgeon you are enthusiastic about.

I can't tell you anything about the blister on your incision.  It's probably nothing, but if it persists into Monday, I'd call your surgeon's office and let them know.

Yay!  Full liquid diet!  Go for it! I'm sure it will be a welcome change.

I am so happy to see the great attitude that you are going into this recovery with... I have to agree with Denise about your blister, if it isn't gone or better by Monday, I would call your surgeon.

Very sorry you had problems and had to have additional surgery, but, it is so good to hear that you have such a positive outlook. Relaxing into your recovery is the very best way to get through it.

Lisa,

I am so glad you are doing well and your positive attitude on the glitch is your surgery is uplifting for others to read.  As with most lap surgeries there is always the chance that the surgery may have to be converted to an open procedure.  I am sorry yours had to be but from what you have said it was necessary and the outcome is good.

Wondering if you had a dressing on your wound that was applied using tape of any type ?  I have seen little blisters from tape used on surgical site dressings. I agree with Denise, if you have concerns please do check in with your Dr.

Hi Kitt: the blister is on the site where they took the drain pump out. Once the nurse removed it she placed a steri strip across the area. I have since talked to the dr on call and he said to not be alarmed if the blister popped, to place a dressing over the area, and to come in Monday for sure to have it checked out. All in all, no emergency. Whew!!

I did have another question though: no one at the hospital made it clear on when to wear the an binder. All the time, just when I'm up walking? Like yesterday, I was on the couch most of the day so I didn't wear it at all.

One more question: is there a resource or someone who has compiled some recipes for the full liquid diet to keep things interesting? I'd live to know and possibly contribute as I find things that work. Id be open to any, but would really be interested in low cal weight loss ones.

By the way, as of Friday I've lost 7 pounds!! Whoop whoop!!

Hi thanks for the links. I woke up with two more larger water blisters on my large incision and called in again and the dr said its most likely an allergic reaction to the steri strips. Eeek!! I have 27 strips in all!! But Im going in at 8:30 tomorrow to get them checked out. Let's just hope the number holds at 3. Lol

It will be 5 weeks this Thursday since my surgery. I will say that the whole experience (except for losing 20 lbs) has been nothing short of a living nightmare. I would have rather had taken Nexium and propped my bed up than have a 14 inch incision down the middle of my body leaving me permanently disfigured; water blisters that left their own scars from an inept nurse, a cracked foot from having so much pain and not being able to concentrate on simply walking. I'd rather risk cancer than go through the upper and lower gi barium testing today to find the hematoma lodged in my body. I haven't slept in my own bed in 5 weeks from the pain in my stomach. Not to mention the now $50K bill. Someone should have hit me over the head and knocked some sense into me. I'd take it all back in a heartbeat. Think long and hard before you have the Neissen surgery. It may ruin your life too.

I'm sort of at the opposite end....

I recovered really well from the surgery (lap), i had stomach, throat, and mouth burning pains....the stomach burning went down quite a bit, but the throat and mouth symptoms still remain. I am 36 days post op.
