I have been having yellow stools for over a month. I am on a gerd friendly diet, raised bed, trying to decide about
Nissan.
When I say yellow, I mean yellow.
Anyone else have this??

I had the same thing. I have LPR and IBS. They were the result of the Dexilant (PPI) that i was taking. Also, sodium bicarbonate (tums) can cause yellow stools. Then of course there is the more serious stuff like liver and gallbladder problems. Finally, fast tranist time in the colon can cause this too.

There are several things that can cause yellow stool. Food passing though your digestive system often seen in people with GERD (astroesophageal reflux disease). Your body is not producing enough bile can cause yellow stool as well. If yellow stool happens suddenly it can mean you have some sort of bacterial infection in your intestines. Check with your doctor for correct diagnosis.

Thanks for answering. I think it is fast transit. Dr. put me on a very restricted diet.
I was just at GI and forgot to ask. I also have IBS and gerd
Chuck T: have you had a nissan? If so did it make your IBS worse?

Have not had the Nissen. Its not something that im really interested in. I may one day go for the LINX, but the idea of wrapping my stomach around my esophagus doesnt sit well with me.
Have you tried Baclofen yet? My doc just perscribed it and said it is really helping his patients with acid reflux as it strengthens the LES. I have LPR, but ill let you know how it works for me. Have not filled the perscript
ion yet.

I have been diagnosed with Gerd and I have yellow stools. Until I read this post I did not bother about
that. Is this serious ? Do I need to contact my doctor?

New_2012: If the yellow stool started after taking the prevacid or drinking maalox, I wouldnt worry about
it. Prevacid and Dexilant are basically the same, and like I said above the Dexilant is what caused mine.

Funny. I saw on Dr. Oz a few weeks ago, many people are diagnosed with IBS, but actually have parasites. Yellow stools was one of the key symptoms. Who knows? May be worth checking his website.
