Not according to the gal from U.C. San Diego - she said theirs is the only
location at this time - allowed to do the LINX implants in the States. London, England is the other official LINX implant site. The other
locations in the past couple years were clinical studies only.
She told me on April 10th - only U.C. San Diego is currently allowed to implant the LINX devices into non-clinical study patients. She was sorry we lived in Chicago - since it would be a long trip - and most likely at least TWO trips - to travel and be interviewed in person - before they determined whether or not our son would be considered eligible for the procedure.
She told us we could sit tight and wait for a few months - because she fully expected the government to approve more implant centers quickly - and surely Chicago would be high on the list.
But for now - all patients must travel to San Diego - and go thru their eligibility procedures.
She also said if sit tight and let insurance companies get acclimated to this procedure and it's 100% safety rate - hopefully they would soon begin covering the procedure, which costs $12,000.
If you have located any other official LINX implant site - I would love to hear about it!
