Yesterday I had my presurgury consultations. Three half hour appointments: Preop nurse, Pharmacist and Anesthetist. Whew! They are thorough!
I was not expecting these appointments but such a good idea to have all of my paper work in order, all of the preop instructions and to have a chance to address some of my questions.
The biggest question which I had is the anti nausea meds. After reading these boards, I want all of the protection I can have against nausea. The Anesthetist said he will have me "loaded up" on these before I even arrive in recovery. He also suggested that I take an extra Nexium - in the morning of the surgery - and an extra sedative in the morning also.
I was much more worried about
nausea than about
pain as I know they can control the pain. Now I feel more confident.
This morning I am going to hospital for all of the lab work. With all of the blood they are taking, they may need to give me a
cookie!
Also booked for an ECG this morning.
I will post again after surgery. Thanks again to all of you for the support, encouragement and information.
