Acid Reflux Pain

Hi, I'm new here but not new to Acid Reflux pain. This is just an unbelievable situation. I have had Acid Reflux now for over 5 years. I take Nexium at bed time and ranitidine in the morning. Does absolutely nothing. The pain in my throat is every time I swallow..I mean every time for 5 years now. Sometimes first thing in the morning it just feels like my throat is on fire or I am swallowing acid. The pain continues 24/7 although sometimes not as severe but is always there and always bad. I mean even to swallow saliva, ice water, food, anything at all, it is all the same pain. I know it may be hard to believe but if you're a reflux sufferer you know just what I mean. I'm am being treated at the normally outstanding Hershey Medical Center by the Otolaryngology Dept. and I kindly will not mention the doctor's name. He tells me there is just nothing on the face of the earth that will help my pain and there's nothing on the face of the earth that is better than Nexium. Bull! Have had endoscopy's in the last 2 years but for some reason they did not look at the valve that is supposed to keep the acid where it belongs. I'm 63 and possibly that is why the doc is reluctant to suggest any type of remedial surgery for the reflux or he just doesn't care alot. (comment: I just wish these doc's could spend just 24 hours experiencing the pain that I do. I'm sure that would change their opinion. I know they see the inflamation and such on the scopes I have every four months but that ain't like feeling it) I'd ask for a second opinion but my primary physican is affiliated with the Hershey Med Center and I'm sure the second opinion would have to be with them and I'm sure the doctors in the that are in the same department would be talking. So much for a second opinion.

Bottom line is if there is someone that knows of anything to do for this pain, even if it is a med from another country purchased on the internet, I'd liKe to know about it. As I said, I'm 63 and the quality of life really should be a lot better than it is in these years.

Seriously, please help if you can.

Find a new GI. Do some research. Dont just stay with the dr.you have if he/she isn't helping. I have a new GI that I found rated as a Top Doctor in Philadelphia magazine for 12 years straight. If he doesn't help me I'm off to acupuncture.

I have heard from people on this site and from people with other illnesses that accupincture helps. I found one in my area who specializes in digestive problems, and I plan to try it if my new doctor can't help. It is frustrating that the place u are at isn't helping but you do have options.

Is that Manuka honey? Where did u purchase it? I take Manuka honey daily

i got the product at manukaguard.com. I have seen it at Whole Foods and Raley's stores on the West Coast
i had some success with acupuncture for a few years but eventually my problems got worse in spite of diet changes.
My biggest issue was with tea - had to give it up and cut the coffee back

mudmagnetmum - I just looked at the label - does have acv but also has manuka honey, potassium bi-carb and ginger
took a swig - mmmmmm - no fire ..... taste is not as bad as mylanta, thats for sure! - seems to have quite a lot of manuka honey, i tried apple cider vinegar straight and puked it up every time - way too strong for me.

Strange result - mine a was a mild burning sensation in the esophagus above the stomach - for the stomach to burn like that makes no sense as the stomach contents are far more acidic by a huge margin, then the ACV.

Have you tried a high quality manuka honey for the gastritus - manuka honey is a pure natural anti-biotic
there are plenty on the internet - find one that is a high UMF or high MGO - the rest are junk
