Back from Endo, help with results explaination

Hello all, still groggy so bear with me.

My Endo seemed to go well, did not have the 2 things I fear most, but some suprises...here is word for word the report I got.

1. Z line visualized

2. The esophagus looks normal without inflammation, strictures or tumors. yeah

3. Random biopsies from the lower esophagus to rule out esinophilic esophagitis (what is this?, do they always do this)

4. Multiple benign appearing gastric polyps  confused   several biopsied. (Does this mean a chance I have stomach cancer?)

5. Normal Dueodenum.

Would like to hear from others who have had Endo's, if they have had the polyps, what the feedback from the docs was about it, and any one know if #3 is standard procedure.

One other weird thing, when I had the Endo in 2004 I had a hiatial hernia, since that time I have had several illnesses that cause me to vomit violently several times for days.....I would have thought the HH could only get worse...I dont know if anyone has read about the home remedy about drinking water to get a heavy stomach and then jumping down and landing flat to jolt the hernia back in place, I have done this about 10 times over the last 3 days, could it have worked?

Glad to hear the endo went well.

Not sure what #1 is, someone else can probably comment.

#2 is great!

My gastro doc told me #3 is very common. Even if you do not have visual evidence of EE, they will sometimes do a biopsy to rule it out. Its important to rule out. In my case, I do have visual evidence (I have a ringed esophagus), but the test came back after both endos negative. EE is an allergic reaction to usually food, but sometimes can be other things. Its symptoms can mirror GERD pretty closely. People that have this can take steroid sprays to keep it under control.

#4 benign is a good word here, meaning non-cancerous. I think this too is not uncommon from what I've seen on this board.

#5 normal means normal! Dueodenum is the first section of the small intestine that connects to the stomach.

Sounds like it went well. The biopsy will either rule out EE or if it is positive, there are different treatments. I don't know about the hiatal hernia thing. I have one that was less than 1cm that the gastro and my surgeon determined was harmless due to its size.

I think polyps on the stomach that are benign could be from the long term use of PPIs. They do not cause issues I am told. I have heard about the jumping thing but I have no clue if it works or not. Not sure what Z line is. My recent endo just said "mild non erosive reflux esophagitis ". So I am at a loss for what the other things mean but I think it went pretty well! It is really good that you do not have inflammation, strictures of tumors. Breathe a sigh of relief.

Make sure you have a follow up with your doctor that performed the scope. Have them explain everything in the report they gave you. Don't leave until every question is asked and fear is explained fully.

With my 2 endos, the doctor did talk to me after the procedure... but I didn't remember it due to the sedation, so it was very beneficial to follow up with him 1-2 weeks later to get the data explained in easy to understand terms.
