I've had GERD for many years and have been using omeprazole steadily for a few years now. While on it I have less instances of acid shooting up into my throat and making me choke. I do know that if I miss one dose of the omeprazole I will have heartburn symptoms that day and if I'm off for two days the acid is out of control.
Here's my questions: I always wake up with a stomach ache and nausea and need to drink a couple of swallows of milk so I don't throw up. Is that just because of too much stomach acid?
Many times after I've eaten and I know I can't possibly be hungry I still have a stomach ache.....the kind you have when you are hungry. Does this have anything to do with GERD?
Does anyone get that excruciating burning pain in your ears when acid shoots all the way up your throat?
Last question!! If you have GERD for a very long time and you ARE on medication....does the acid still cause damage to your esophagus?
