I drank tons and tons of Ensure during my first 2 weeks of recovery. Also mixed in some juice and very watery soups. I made sure to buy the Ensure that has 400 calories a bottle, as you will need it for energy when eating so little.
For weeks 2-4, I ate thicker soups and very soft mashed potatoes and very overcooked pasta.
After 4 weeks, I started adding more solid things back one by one, trial and error, and by 8 weeks I was eating everything.
We bought a handheld blender and pureed everything. I would go to the grocery store or a restaurant, buy different soups, and puree them until they were all liquid. If a soup is supposed to be chunky, the texture may be weird, but its still a great taste.
I lost 22 pounds after recovery, but have gained back 37 (I'm at 7 months). Hope you are more successful in keeping the weight off. :)
