GERD and low stomach acid strength

I've been looking on the internet for GERD cures, I have come across quite a few sources that state GERD is actually caused by LOW stomach acidity (food doesn't get digested properly and instead begins to rot which can cause gas ie burping/indigestion and bring up burning stomach acid with it) and therefore increasing stomach acid strength by taking Betaine HCL supplements will aid digestion and also increase the sufferer's energy levels. What do you think?

this is the case for some people, but for other people it has to do with the lower esophageal shpincter not closing all the way or opening and closing too often. You would need to have a mamotry test to see if that is the case. If your LES is working, then it could be possible to have low stomache acid. Tread with caution because some people have tried the HCL and it m ade it worse for them.

be very careful when trying it

i burned my stomach and esophagus very bad with it, after taking HCL with enzymes for 2 months

its been 6 months and I still can not recover from the burn

i regret so much taking it

Jeez dany, I'm sorry to hear that, I had no idea that could happen, what strength was the tablets?

It's a test where they assess for esophageal motility problems as well as the functioning of the lower esophageal muscle. They put a tube through your nose and down your throat and measure these things while u swallow water. I'm prob going to have this done at done point soon, it sounds annoying but they will be able to identify the problem.

Well, the low stomach acid strength could be your problem. Lots of people struggle with it. However, GERD is not usually caused by that. Often times Gerders have excess stomach acid, and they need to take acid reducers.

As always, treat any medication with caution. What works for someone else may not work for you.

I don't remember the dosage and my husband trashed the bottle, but it was saying to take two after each meal and I did that for a few weeks and then I took one after each meal. Also be very careful with apple cider vinegar, lol that burned also
