Hi all. I just had my Nissen on Tuesday. Feeling remarkable well, considering. I am quite tired, and sore at the incision sites. But have definitely felt a reduction in reflux symptoms. Thankfully, as they were ruining my life.
I wanted to ask about one thing I've been experiencing. When I drink or eat, I feel a gurgling sensation (and sound) at the base of my esophagus, where I think the wrap is located. It's like fluid gets stuck there for a few moments, then I can feel it fall into my stomach. It's not painful...just a little uncomfortable, and a strange sensation. Is this a part of the swelling I keep hearing about? Is it a normal part of the recovery process?
My doctor told me not to worry about it. Easy for him to say - he's not the one gurgling!
i don't know what the swelling phase is all about. Can anyone share?
Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
