How long did some of you wait before you had surgery done?
After I was told to have the surgery it took about three months of testing.
How long was the hospital stay? My paperwork says 1 day overnight.
I stayed 24 hours.
Is the burping or flatuance really excessive?
I had hiccups and toots bad for about a week. I tooted for about a year.
I am terrified to to stay in the hospital overnight. I know the staff will take care of me well but I am still fearful.
I was scared because I'd never had surgery or been in the hospital before. I slept most of the time there. They were all very caring and gentle. I had someone spend the night with me to keep me company and act as a go between.
I read some post about not being able to eat salads and greens vegetables after the surgery is that common?
During the first months you need to avoid raw veggies. After you're healed you can eat what you want.
Do you really eat pureed foods or just soft food for the first 3 weeks after surgery?
I had a strict surgeon who gave me a strict diet to follow. You need to stay on liquids until the swelling goes down. The peak swelling is reached around day 14. After that you can go on the soft foods. Then gradually add firmer foods leaving steak, bread, and raw veggies last.
I will go stir crazy if I am at home and can't work for 3 weeks like my informational paperwork says.
Three weeks is ideal, but if you have a desk job you can go back earlier. I'm a teacher and was back to work at 2 weeks.
