Moonflower56,I am wishing you the very best as you go forward toward your surgery. I had major surgery on 8/16/12, however, it was not related to GERD. I did not plan well as my mind was all over the place so my medications that I take daily by mouth were not addressed appropriately. I was transferred from one hospital to another and on a ventilator for 24 hours so I was not able to communicate the need for my meds. Good for you for being on the ball and asking this question.
Be sure the Dr. that is seeing you daily while in the hospital is aware of your daily meds and if there is a need to give you meds by a different route make sure the Dr. is knows of this and orders what you need.
I spent the 5 days between dx and surgery getting all my paper work in order at home for my husband as I am the one that does most of the " important paper work" and over the 41 years we have been married I had ended up with my "papers" scattered in more than one safe or file cabinet. Shame on me.
Be sure to ask for what you need in the hospital as that give you back some of that control that as patients we feel we have lost.
Blessing, good wishes, good vibes and success for you Moonflower.
Kindly,
Kitt
