On October 8th (a day that will be burned in my memory forever), I ingested what I think may have been a chicken bone......didn't cut off my air, but I immediately ran to the bathroom to try to "throw it up."
I continued to try to throw up two or three more times and felt something in my throat.
Went off to the ER - had neck x-ray. Nothing there. Dr. said "maybe an abrasion?"
went home, next day, couldn't swallow solids.
Went back to ER - said that they wouldn't call in GI team - too late and since I was still swallowing liquids, not necessary. Did chest x-ray and a glucagon drip to "
open my throat" but saw nothing in there. Follow up with gastro and enterologist.
Had the NPL scope - dr. saw just some mild irritation in throat.
Went to gastro - - thankfully got in for a quick endoscopy -
official results will be on October 25th, but post--procedure, dr. told me that he saw "mild inflammation" of the stomach and some on esophagus. Took biopsies to check for bacterial infection.
As of now, I am on a diet of Ensure, yogurt and oatmeal....but even the oatmeal feels funny going down......
my husband thinks because there was no evidence of a foreign object in there, that it is "all in my head." Very frustrating.....he tells me to just eat a sandwich and ignore it.
anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
prior to the chicken bone thing, I had never had any problems with heartburn, reflux, etc.
but I am so miserable now that I can't even imagine feeling healthy ever again
