I have never had swallowing problems before, but about 2 weeks ago (Sept 10) I was eating dinner and got a piece of chicken caught in my throat, it felt like it was right below my Adam's apple. I went to the ER and got muscle relaxers which helped it go down, but the next day I was having some fish (I thought it would be soft enough to go down ok) and a piece of fish got caught in the same spot, had to go back to the ER and they got it loose with some shaken up Coke (I guess the carbonation knocked it loose). I called an ENT and got prescribed prednisolone liquid which I took for a week, then saw an ENT who looked at my airway and said it looked clear and prescribed me omeprazole, since I'd been having heartburn for awhile (I used to drink a lot of pop, but stopped since this all started). I was on a liquid diet for fear I would get anything solid caught in my throat again, and tried to have some chicken noodle soup last week but got a piece of carrot stuck in my throat in the same spot as before, which I got loose with some Coke. I had an endoscopy done by a GI last week and they said it looked normal, but took a biopsy of my throat and will hopefully have the results of it when I go for a followup later this week. I am back on my liquid diet (just chicken and beef broth, milkshakes and water) and have lost about 18 lbs in the past 2 weeks from not being able to eat solid food. This really stinks and I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they were diagnosed with? I don't have any food allergies that I know of. I just wish I knew what was wrong with me. Thanks for any help you guys can give me!
