I've suffered with horrible symptoms for a decade now and have been treated using PPI's etc ever since. I cannot tell you how many times I've been back to the doctors asking for more to be done only to find that in 10 years I have only just secured the chance to see a gastroenterologist. My doctor is reluctant to send me for manometry and PH testing and told me he thinks that when I do inevitably go for these that they will find everything to be normal. How can he say that? Does he know how I feel every single day?told me to hold on and push to see a specialist, that it's not over yet and there's still a chance I can improve. I listened and I got the referral, now I have to wait. In the meantime I have to deal with feeling like I have an oesophagus full of dice moving about all day as usual.
I have so little faith in doctors I think I'm just gonna be shrugged off and not taken seriously. How come I see on this site that people are having CT scans and manometry tests etc after just 6 months or a couple of years of symptoms? A decade! That's how long I've suffered, what makes me less important?

P.S. I recently (10 days ago) started getting really painful stomach cramps which sometimes meant I need the toilet immediately other times it just hurt. For the first week my stools were loose and bright yellow and wouldn't always all come out. I'd go and feel like I need to do a lot but only some would come despite me feeling a further bulk unable to pass. Then a while later I'd need to go again. Eventually it stopped being so loose but still have the cramps, sudden need to go and inability to do it all but curiously I've noticed that since they've become a little more solid (certainly not back to normal) it doesn't feel right coming out and they're kinda flat like a thick ribbon or some have been rounded but really thin like electrical cord. I saw my doctor about this and I was told I had temporary gastroenteritis but I had no sickness or temperature. Oh I also was passing a LOT of mucous and it was usually streaked with blood. This seems to have stopped now, but I don't think gastroenteritis could explain away the oddly formed stools and stop start movements.
Really sorry about the graphic details but there's no use beating about the bush when you're trying to get answers

Sometimes I think some Doctors are in the business to make money and will start out guessing what may be the problem and having you comeback every few days just to get office call paid. If they cure you the first visit they have lost a lot of money.

Tell the Doctor what you want and inform him that you are paying for it and want to know what is wrong with you. The Doctor may be right but sometimes getting test made will clear up your mind and that will help you get better. They say about 75% of the people in the Hospital is there because of they think something is wrong with them. If the Doctors would do the test to re-leave their minds they wouldn't be taking up beds in the hospital

This is what scared me off of taking PPIs. So many people reporting here they take them with no results.
"Sometimes"?? they are in business to make money. They are always in business to make money.

I feel like either my doctor is trying to make money or he really has no clue *** gerd and reflux are!! I go back thursday so he can check my food journal... If he says to keep taking the PPI's and that's all, I'm going to punch him in his face yell at him ... I'm so fed up with NO ANSWERS :(

We all get frustrated with the medical community. I have basically worked on healing myself via this site suggestions and my own research. It is a shame that this condition is not taken as seriously as it should be. It is scary how common it is becoming.
