please!!! give me a success story re: lump in throat/difficulty swallowing solid foods -

Hi -
I have been diagnosed with mild acid reflux and will start on aciphex tomorrow for two weeks in order to alleviate the very annoying symptom of a lump in the throat, or more like it's like a hairball in there.
No heartburn evident, and I can swallow liquids. Essentially have been living off Ensure, yogurt, oatmeal and the like.
When I try to swallow solid foods (after a good long chew), I swallow and feel it like stuck there in my throat. It stays that way for half hour or so. Almost as if I coughed, I could bring the pieces back to my mouth. Pardon the imagery.
What I need is to hear SUCCESS STORIES re: this issue.
I have been going thru the forum and see post after post about how people NEVER resolve this issue and let me tell you, it's darn discouraging.
The website is "healing well" after all, and wish that I could find more encouraging posts.

please, anyone?
I am a mother of two small boys and require energy and hope to keep going here.

They did take biopsies of both stomach and esophagus.

Just slight inflammation in lower esophagus.

chewing non mint gum helped with the lump in throat feeling as well as a consistent GERD diet and some natural remedies as well. I recently just started drinking this alkaline water called evamore and it has helped me as well.

I had a problem swallowing and my GI did a balloon dilation during the scope to open up a stricture in my esophagus. It didn't show up in a swallow study, but the dilation solved the problem for me.

I  owe my health to this forum and everyone who contributed to the GERD thread because I read alot of posts before I got well again. Long story short- last fall, pain , lump in throat,burping, gas- by spring an endoscopy found acid reflux. OTC did not help so doctor prescribed Tecta. Three weeks of increasing pain made me stop Tecta and cobble my own "cure" based on this forum and a gerd video on Youtube( smallflower tv- the Q brothers)

Here is what has kept the reflux and ALL bad symptoms at bay since last May 2012. I now go days without even taking anything from my "tool box "of remedies.

1)Bio k or acidopholus tablets

2) Betaine

3) DGL licorice

4) Liquid calcium

5) Renew Life heartburn Stop

6) Renew Life Digestmore

These are the main things that have totally stopped the acid reflux. I also went to a naturopath who approved of these items. The video on Youtube was VITAL to explaining to me the process of digestion from top to bottom(!).I eat and drink anything I want.I believe I brought this reflux on myself when I had to take a 4 week dose of 2 antibiotics due to an super infected throat.If this post helps even one person, I will have repaid HealingWell posters as the resource that helped me the most.

I had the exact symptoms as you. After months of tests (had everyone done) and doctor visits, I settled on the Nissen. Greatest decision I ever made. I'm 5 months out and can do whatever I want with ZERO reflux. Its incredible. I haven't even touched a PPI in months (I was taking 2 a day, plus an H2 blocker, and 5-6 tums). I got my life back. If the PPIs dont work I would strongly consider the surgery route.
