Good morning!
New to this forum, thank you to everyone for their insight and knowledge. I hope we'll have a better day today! I cannot take PPI's (acid rebound effect on me - BAD). I'm currently on low acid diet, starting phase 2, zantac 150 2xday, Carafate before meals (if I'm having pain), DGL after meals, if needed, antispasmodic, and mylanta liquid if needed. I am looking for safe "hot" drinks that will help soothe irritation in esophagus, and also make me happy again - :o) I sooooooooo miss my 2 cups of coffee a day and my herbal teas that I drank thoughout the day.
I've heard marshmallow, chammomile (boring), roobis and slipper elm are good choices as long as there are no other ingredients that would irritate the gut. I understand I need caffeine free, but when looking around, so many teas have a blend of other possible irritants, i.,e. peppermint and spearmint, citrus, etc. So, are there any specific brands/mfgs anyone has tried and may suggest? Drinking hot water plain makes me sad :o( and drinking hot water with Manuka honey (although somewhat beneficial) is putting too much sugar in my body. I don't do well with sugar.
HELP, PLEASE ---- i'M REACHING FOR THE COFFEE POT!!!!
P.S. Any one try any low acid, decaffeinated coffees, i.e., Healthwise, PurRoast, Hevla? I understand I can't overboard with the coffee, but I would like to introduce a cup in the morning back into my diet starting next week. GI doc said it would be okay, but I need to see how I feel.
Thank you and Bless you all with inner peace and calm. Coffee was my peace and now I'm in chaos.
