Hi NDL,Congrats on your surgery date! I'll bet you're looking forward to it. While I don't have LINX experience, I can say that quite a few people who've been posting here post-Nissen have managed to go back to work after two to three weeks. That said, they're not really happy about it, and wish they'd taken longer to give themselves time to heal.
The world won't end at work if you're not there. You've been there for 11 years, so it's not like you're ditching a new job. You have a right to take sick leave, even if it inconveniences others at work. Please consider yourself when your make that decision.
I'm a retired first-second grade teacher, and (because I didn't think my class could go on without me) decided that I would go back to school at two weeks (half time). Since schools are a germ incubator and my lungs weren't in good shape, my doctor, principal, and teaching assistant all said NO!
I ended up going back after six weeks, and guess what? It was like I'd never been gone. Is there any way you could help at home via laptop computer? That's how I kept in touch and made sure things were progressing properly.
Just remember that a decision to allow yourself time to heal is what you deserve. I know life-situations sometimes make that difficult to achieve, but try!
I'm sure others will be by to share their back-to-work stories.
Good luck with your decision!
Take care,
Denise
