swallowing spasms and gerd

Yesterday our 33 year old son called and mentioned that 2 nights this week he could not sleep because he was getting swallowing "spasms" of some kind.

For the prior 8 months, since maybe April of 2012, he has had a throat "drip" of some kind his GP says maybe be ERD caused. He is normal weight and has been on a strict anti-Gerd diet and regimen for the past months.

Any Doctor or clinic that anyone can recomend. Boston would be first choice. Any thoughts on the problem?
