I know that forums arent the perfect place to get medical advice such as this, but I thought I would throw this one out there. I have GERD and have been trying to treat it for several years now. I also occasionally find blood in my stool. Over a couple day span, I will find it multiple days in a row, and then it will be normal for the next couple days or even weeks. I have mentioned this to a general doctor before but he said there is nothing to worry about
if it only happens a few times. Now it has been several times and it keeps coming back in this pattern. Does anyone know if this could be related to reflux and where I can find good information about
what to do for it?

Welcome to the forum, Bacon.
A little bit of reflux shouldn't cause bleeding like this. You could be having a serious problem beyond a forum's purview. You were told by your general doc nothing to worry about
IF ...
I wouldn't trust any advice from a forum to cure serious problem. I would see a gastroenterologist and get some tests.
Best wishes.

I would see a GI doctor. You could have a different digestive condition.

When I went to my GI doctor....for gerd....I also mentioned the my family doc told me anout 4 years ago I had ibs and I handle it on my own. He then asked me if I have ever had any blood in my stool...I said once but I had a hem. so it was probably form that. He insisted a colonscopy anyway.....he said any blood at all it's better to be safe than sorry~ In the end everythign was good but I too would go to a GI to see what they say~

Bleeding into the GI tract from gastritis or ulcers will show as darker or blackened stool (melaena) but if just being lost in small amounts it is not visible to the naked eye.
Blood that looks like blood and is fresh is more likely to come from haemorrhoids. However, all blood loss should be investigated. And if it turns out just to be haemorrhoids, then they're fairly easy to fix! Other causes to be ruled out include things like Crohn's and colitis - I strongly recommend getting this checked out just to be on the safe side.
It's probably something very treatable, so there's nothing to lose by seeing the doc!
