Hi gigglesalc,That's great news! Yes, you should be happy and relieved. I know anxiety is hard to deal with (my husband suffers with it), and it's easy to jump to another health concern. You are exactly right...accept the good results and tell your anxiety to hit the road!
Yes, PPIs like Prilosec are used to treat a inflamed esophagus. Did your doctor prescribe a short term PPI treatment? Another prescription drug that can coat and protect the esophagus is Carafate Suspension. I have found it very helpful in healing both the esophagus and stomach.
Yes, the symptoms you're experiencing are consistent with your diagnosis, and should gradually resolve as your esophagus heals.
There are also many natural remedies that people use when they either don't want to take PPIs or can't because of side effects.
I expect someone will be by to add their support and suggestions soon.
Again, glad to hear all is well.
Best wishes,
Denise
