Had the nissen wrap performed on 2/21/13. The surgery was performed by very experienced doctor and I'm doing very well. Followed up with the Dr after 5 days and he was pleased with the progress. He told me to start eating some soft foods. Well I was cautious but I have been eating foods such as fish, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, etc. It has been great to eat something instead of being on strictly a liquid diet. Did have one mishap, ate too big a piece of toast and didn't chew it long enough and it got stuck in my throat. Would have been more anxious had I not already read on this site that bread would do this to you and gradually it would pass, so I just waited. Seven days post op and I have no second thoughts. Have lost 8 lbs and feel a little weak but I'm already working on that.
Now for the most important question (at this time at least). I have a golf trip planned for 8 wks after surgery. Do any of you see this as a potential problem as long as things progress as they are now. I anticipate I may not have regained my full strength but I'll work through this. Oh, by the way, I'm 67 years old with some other medical problems but am overall pretty active and I normally go on these golf outings pretty often. Minimal (or no) drinking but definately too much food and I know that I'll miss out a little on this.
Any response will be appreciated. So far I have learned a lot from this forum. I started reading it about four weeks ago.
Thanks
