Anyone have an adjustable bed specifically for their GERD, Lpr or back?

I am considering buying an adjustable bed,( one you can elevate like hospital beds "electric ones") but I am on a budget. I am a student :).
My current bed is good, but I sleep with 10 pillows. My bed is lifted about 5-8 inches but I tend to slide down. My back is sore in the morning because I move a lot. everyone knows what happens when you sleep flat, "GERD".


Can anyone recommend, tell me how much you spent, what to look for, price, comfort warranty etc. I'm gonna start researching online and going to stores, but I want my fello gerds to give me some feedback on their experience.

Yes, I bought one, but the financial piece wasn't that difficult for me. It has been quite a long time since I was a student! You could buy a good recliner for your bedroom and sleep the first part of the night in it. I think a meal takes 6 hours to leave your stomach. If you finish eating by 5 :00, you can sleep pretty flat by 11:00. Sleeping upright is hard on my back, the more time I spend sleeping flat, the better I feel. Being able to raise my legs does relieve my back a little, but flat is best, with a pillow under my knees.

What you are saying is that even though you have an adjustable bed it is hard on your back?

Do you have the actual bed though? Or you have a bed reclinner?

Sorry for all the questions, but if one of these expensive adjustable beds is hard on ppl's back in general than I should really think about it before I buy it.

Have you tried a wedge pillow? I'm talking the big quality ones you get at medical supply shops. I used one for almost 2 years, and it worked extremely well. They come in different angles, but I got a very angled one, I believe 12" high. I grew so used to it that it was hard for me to let go of using it after surgery!

I never found multiple regular pillows very comfortable or very effective. Since the wedge pillow starts at your lower back, it fully elevates your entire upper body, with your head (in the case of the one I got) 12" off the bed. They are a lot cheaper than an adjustable bed, so could be worth a shot!

Here is what I currently have,

7-10inches elevated with books. Then, underneath the mattress I have 5-6 of books more. Then on top of that I have a couple of pillows on the side to the left, right, above and below. Yes, I admit it, I sleep odd :)

I tend to slide down, but in the past my bed frame was at about 3-4 inches n then the mattress underneath was like 4-5 inches and I still slid down.

I do have a wedge that is about 8 inches high but it is a smaller one. And I have also tried the bigger one the 12inch.

I don't know how to fix it or make it better anymore. This is why I am looking at the adjustable bed.

Yes, I have an actual adjustable bed. If you are more upright, your weight is focused more on your lower back instead of being distributed along your trunk. I got the bed because I wanted to sleep more upright than I possibly could by putting books under the feet of the bed. The wedge also didn't get me upright enough. I stay as upright as I can and still go to sleep, until at least 6 hours after I have had anything to eat.  Before I got the bed and started the Koufman diet, I was coughing terribly, and couldn't sleep much.

When you raise the lower part of the adjustable bed, it does help keep you from sliding down.

-Is your back better or still little bad with the bed?

-is the acid staying down? Are you still waking up with a bitter taste?

-after 5-6pm do you drink like water? or eat anything?
I tend to eat 5-6:30pm but drink water all the way until 10pm and sleep like at 11:30pm

My back was better when I slept flat all night, but it isn't too bad. I have increased the frequency of my back strengthening exercises. I have lumbar stenosis, scoloisis, arthritis, had a fusion for the scoliosis in 1966.

The acid stays down fine, no bitter taste. I drink water, but eat nothing after 6:00 pm. I usually have yogurt around 4:00, a small meal around 5:00, a glass of milk with a couple Graham crackers just before 6:00. I used to snack through the evening, but not now.

When it comes to pain in back, I have a lot of experiences in this.

Tried all popular adjustable electric beds in past 5-6 years, look at : howdotodo.com/category:s-cape-bed#adjustable_electric_beds

and I can say for sure that "S-Cape" is something best in this field.

It has over 100 positions which are switched easily, you can program to change positions overnight, for me it is like 'live', I call it my 'pet' since helps me with my pains.

Another on is "Reverie deluxe" it is much cheaper ,not so good as S-Cape but for that budget it is simply number 2.

Before me existing S-Cape i spent a lot of money on cheap (under $1.000) adjustable beds and I can tell you that is just wasted money, if I knew I would buy this beauty first day when my back paints started...
