Spasm Of Hernia Chest Pain?

one of my main symptoms for the last year is chest pain

ive had problems for years now but this only started almost a year go

and its a pretty constant feeling just sometimes its worse then others but i also feel like something is going on there

my last endoscopy my dr said he saw my hernia sliding up and down several times during the test and he believes thats the cause of my chest pain

its medium sized hernia around 3cm

my question is can spasms be constant or is most likely hernia related like he thinks

i dont have any problems swallowing which i think goes with spasms

and if was experiencing this chest pain going into the endoscopy and i had a spasm would that be seen?

Hi loco. I think the forum is a bit slow, maybe because of kids getting out of school for the holiday.

My hernia was paraesophageal, stomach in my chest all the time, and that hurt horribly. I wouldn't be surprised if a good-size slider could be quite painful too. At least you have a doctor who believes you have a problem. I'd trust him.

Do you have enough symptoms to consider surgery? Have you had any other tests done? Barium swallow is not painful or invasive and would show how much of the stomach gets above the diaphragm.

A lot of people don't seem to have trouble with hernias, but if that is causing bad enough problems you might want to consider having it fixed ... surgically. Quality of life matters.

Are you taking a ppi? If what you're refluxing up isn't acid you may be able to live with it. Of course they make you stay off the ppi for a week to 10 days for the pH test.

I still like the barium swallow. It shows what the stomach is doing when you swallow. It's good to see how much of the stomach is coming up through the hernia.
