I highly recommend the Restech. I had the multichannel impedance test. My Demeester was score was .2. The Restech is highly sensitive for aerosolized reflux where as I believe the impedance test requires liquid reflux.(?)

My Retech results showed many reflux events confirming the LPR diagnosis.

Just contact Restech Corp and they'll provide you with a list of providers in your area.

I contacted Restech to get the list of providers. I will probably get both the tests depending upon insurance coverage.

Do either of the tests leave you with a tube up your nose for the 24 hrs?

I believe so. Some doctors might want a 48 hour, but 24 is usually the norm.

I had the restech ph sensor done. It said I had 144 ph events during my supine position.
When I had the Ph-Impedance done, the results said I had 3 total refluxes while supine.

Why the difference? Ph-impedance doesn't measure aerosolized particles? This is what has been bugging me the most since I had the two exams... 3 vs 144 supine event's is quite a large difference.

My symptoms always correlated better with the restech device... I wake up feeling the worst in my throat, but according to my Ph-impedance exam, while I'm supine, I'm at my best...

I found a study done on NCBI that compared the restech device vs ph-impedence.

CONCLUSION:
OP pH metry detected less reflux episodes than MII/pH; 35% of the OP events were swallows according to impedance. Time correlation between cough and reflux could not be demonstrated with OP pH metry.

This still confuses me... because I know the placement of the restech probe is right by your tonsil/uvula. Whereas the mII/ph was probably in a different spot.

Anyways, if 35% are swallows, that still leaves me with a significant amount of reflux to my throat.

Just another thought on the Restech vs Ph-Impedance.

The Ph-impedance device goes all the way down your throat and for me it seemed to keep my airway open, compared to the restech device, which rests above your trachea and tongue.

Let's say you have somekind of breathing issue while sleep or sleep apnea. From my experience it seems like the PH-impedance may keep that airway open and make you force air or reflux up less. Whereas the restech device wont interfere with this.

Bumping up this thread for a moment, if I may...

I read (Dr. Robillard, perhaps? Not sure) that the Impedence test is the only one that can detect 'non-acid'--as in, pepsin, etc. The ResTech can't. Maybe this is important considering pepsin might be the greater issue?

To my opinion it doesn't really matter if you have GERD or LRP, the medication is the same for both. Your best option is to just try all the options as for diet and medication. Yes, it will take long but so does waiting for test results. The only test you actually need is an Endoscope, Breathe test like the SIBO test and Eso Manometry. The Barium swallow will only give you the results of what you have when you take the test which last like 5 minutes so is very unreliable.

If a GI can't help you you will need to go to a place like Mayo Clinic which will run other test GI's don't do or even know how to. Actually, a normal GI doesn't even know what an LRP is or silent reflux but an ENT will. Still, medication and treatment is basically the same.
