Hi
drtinsac -
Good to see your comment again! I just got off the phone with Endogastric Solutions and Gerdhelp.com (I think these are same people) but the answer was the same - go check with your primary care physician or the surgeon who performed the procedure.
With this particular office, I also experienced a conflict of opinion in terms of when I was able to get back to full duty at work - the doctor said I was fine to lift the normal amount of weight after a month and the nurse practitioner said to wait for another week.
I searched through the comments in this forum and found that a few of us had beer a few months after the surgery (both TIF and fundo) and reported no heartburn or chest pain. I will, therefore, try it once to see how it would react. I am cautiously optimistic that it will not be an issue as long as it is in moderation.
I have another follow up with the surgeon in 2 weeks, so I will be sure to post what he has to say.
For those who are just following this thread, I am 8 weeks post op (TIF and laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair [2cm]). I had a follow up endoscopy last Thursday and the gastroenthrologist said everything is normal (TIF is visible and wrap is good) and there is no sign of hernia so for me, the surgery was a success given that I do not have any heartburn now and am off PPIs...although I do still have burps here and there...just annoying but nothing painful.
