Potential LINX patient

Hi to all,

I am just jumping on today looking for information and results from those who have had the implant. I have just completed the pre-op studies and should get results soon and my doc is suggesting the LINX procedure to alleviate severe GERD symptoms I have had for over 20 years.

Would any of you that have had this implant for 2 or more years please share if you have had any serious complications, or if any lesser complications are bothersome?

I want to make sure I make as informed decision as possible.

He is an older doc and has performed hundreds of NISSEN, but is really excited about the less invasive LINX. He says that NISSEN has a high rate of success, but has some adverse side affects. He said LINX has had less occurrences of troublesome side affects and has as good or better success rate. Of course, the final choice would be mine, which is why I am seeking information.

I think slicer is the handle on these forums, who got it done way back in 2009. Check his posts. But, to date a lot of implants are past 1 year and quite a few past 2 years. Have never heard of any complaints. I have had one for 4 months now :)

Can you share who your surgeon is ? I do think Linx is a nice option.

When you say "severe" gerd symptoms, what do you mean ? High DeMeester's ? Barrett's ?

I would certainly get esophageal manometry done to evaluate the esophagus' strength to push through the Linx barrier.
