If those numbers are referring to your demeester score, than that's rather high. I believe anything over a demeester score of 14 is considered significant for reflux. I could see why your doctor would want to push you for surgery based off of your demeester scores and that fact that your LES was wide open.
But it seems like your not in to much pain and if you truly don't have any damage done to your stomach, esophagus, or throat. I don't see an immediate reason to pull the gun on surgery right away. idk, how your work schedule is right now, but you will be out of work for a week for sure, maybe more depending on how you feel. The way I see it is that you can always have it done later in your life or maybe at a convenient time for yourself.
I had the TIF/hernia repair done. I kinda rushed into it, wish I read all the doctors notes and thought about it more. Anyways, you'll be on a liquid diet for two weeks. followed by soft foods and eventually around 3 months you can eat anything you want. Your doctor is not wrong for wanting you to have surgery, just go at your own pace if you don't feel comfortable yet. This is something serious that can't be undone. The hope however is that your demeester score will be in the normal range and your chronic cough goes away, which should be possible for the TIF procedure.
