3 weeks Post Nissen fundoplication having sharp pain

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago tomorrow and have had a fairly smooth recovery for the most part but today I am having sharp pain under my left breast near one of my incision sights. My incisions are all healed on the outside but am wondering if this sharp pain is a reflection of something wrong or just healing that still needs to occur on the inside. I am definitely swollen in the area where it hurts and would assume this is the location where much of the work was done but it just seems strange to have this very sharp bad pain begin today? I see my doctor Friday so am hoping I can wait until then and maybe I'm just having a bad day.

Hi WHS,

I was told that the left incision was one that received a lot of manipulation with surgical tools.  My left rib incision was the most painful and lasted the longest.  I found ice very helpful in dealing with it.

Only you know just how painful and bothersome it is.  If you have concerns it's always best to contact your surgeon's office. That's why they get paid the big bucks!
