Sibo test anyone

Acupuncturist recommended me getting this test. She said a lot of western doc are doing research now on this. Not just alternative people. I will see if my doc can get it for me.
Anyone do this?

My doctor said he wanted to do one for me as well, some doctors are aware of this more than others

Can you elaborate on how you transitioned from meds using the Fast Tract diet? I just bought the book a couple of days ago. Did you have both SIBO & GERD? My SIBO began end of Feb., but I was diagnosed as GERD, and sent home with Prilosec. I was skeptical about PPIs, and instead started taking Betain HCL and that alone was working impressively well, but I hadn't zoned in on cutting out the carbs & sugar yet, and began to experience bloating after meals in spite of taking the HCL. In retrospect, I suspect the bacteria/yeast was starting to increase again. I returned to the docs and shared all I had experienced, & how the HCL had brought miraculous relief, but that it felt like an infection was taking place in my body. They dismissed me, and again sent me away with Prilosec. Out of desperation, I started taking it, but things have gone downhill since (beg. of May). Not only are the meds not keeping the acid at bay, the acid attacks have increased! The meds slowed my transit time significantly and they're keeping me from digesting my food! Helpful things I'm taking, DGL (1 tablet 3x), Slippery Elm (tea or pill - 3x). Things not working are Zantac 75mg 2x day , or Prilosec am & Zantac bedtime. I think the Prilosec makes things worse, but I wonder if a stronger Zantac might be useful for stopping acid attacks? Like everyone else, I'm desperate for some relief!

I've been reading about probiotics; I would tend to think they're a good thing, but there seems to be some division out there, or maybe the division is about at what point in the process.

I suspect the docs will do a breath test this week to confirm SIBO and afterwards likely prescribe a regimen of antibiotics. I'll try to talk to a naturopath regarding taking probiotics along the recovery process. Prilosec has been so anti-digestive; it's like the doctors just overlook that fact. One definitely needs digestive support along this path.

A GI has to order the breath test for SIBO. I hadn't heard of the name either until I started researching my symptoms on the web. I'd seen 3 doctors who emphasized GERD or IBS, and I didn't think they were getting to the root of the problem. I felt like I had some sort of infection. My primary looked for H. Pylori, which was negative, but I thought, gee…there must be other bacteria making me feel this bad. I decided to find a GI who was familiar with SIBO, and go from there. I could see them without a recommendation from my primary. I was very detailed with the GI regarding what I ate & symptoms leading up to this mysterious onset, and we were on the same page about SIBO. I've lost weight too; I think most people w/ SIBO do. The bloating AND the GERD have both been horrible at times and keep me from eating as much as I should; but that makes you feel worse…so you have to find a way to eat, and find some amount of calm as you get through this journey.
