hernia

Was wondering if anyone with a hernia is experiencing any of these symptoms that i am. first of all i was told about 3 years ago that i have the hernia. well i have been having chest pain and arm pain for about a year now. i have been to the ER 3 to 4 times an they tell me my heart is fine. last time i went was may of this year and they told me my pain was from the hernia. also told me to take 2 150mg zantacs at bedtime every night. those seemed to help. but for the last 2 weeks ive been in a lot of pain again. bad pain in chest sometimes center, sometimes left or right and sometimes whole entire chest. also i have arm pain sometimes in both arms sometimes just one, neck pain from the sides of my neck to the back of it. all this pain is driving me crazy and all i can think about is omg am i having a heart attack. :(also i feel short of breath at times, have had that feeling for about 2 years now. can anyone please help me before i go insane!

its good to know that im not alone. today has been really bad. bout bad enough to go to the Er again. what type of meds do u take for yours and do they seem to help?

yeah i started having those after my dad passed away...which was 6 years ago. but that went away after a few years. but the symptoms i have now are totally different. how long have you been having your symptoms?

you sound like me...lol when i have something going on i google it and scare myself to death..lol i do sometimes feel tingling in my shoulders and arms at times.

yeah it makes me feel better knowing im not the only one dealing with this. im sorry you are going through this as well. i wouldnt even want my worst enemy to have to deal with this! i have three kids, so i hope to live to grow old with them. im 29 and deal with so much pain. lets hope its not worse as i get older. im here anytime you need a friend to chat with! :)

This can be caused from the vagus nerve being irritated. This nerve runs though the digestive system and up the esophagus into the chest cavity. It controls digestion and heart along with other things.
you might want to look up the vagus nerve to see what symptoms it can cause, but please don't use the web as a diagnoses tool. Dr. Google can be your worst enemy. I used to do this and scared myself so bad I finally realized I had to stop. I do still look up facts about specific things, but not just symptoms themselves as this can bring up all kinds of different issues you probably don't have.

Definitely get into a GI doctor. They will be able to treat you much better than going to the ER.

I have a hiatal hernia, and when I went to see the gi consultant he asked me my symptoms, so I explained them to him and I remember clearly asking him am I going to due, and he looked at me and said no !!. Hernias cause a lot of grief because of its proximity to the heart cavity. It allows acid to wash over the gullet and cause heartburn so bad it feels like a heart attack or can cause other problems. So long as you have had your heart checked out then you have to tell your self it's your hernia causing problems. Did your primary care doctor prescribe you any ppi. I have so much problem with my hernia that my doctor has prescribed me Zantac and lansoprasole . Do you know how big your hernia is and would having it repaired be a way forward instead of suffering pain?
