Well, I'm out of Aniseed Gaviscon Advance, and the pharmacy local to me no longer stocks it..! That leaves me no choice but to get the Mint flavoured tablets. Trouble is, I've heard mint of any kind makes reflux worse. Is that true for these tablets as well? :p

I have GERD, LPR, hiatus hermia, gastritis and bleeding ulcers and with all the Dr's I've gone to, not one ever told me I shouldn't  have mint.  I didn't realize it was supposed to be a problem so I continued eating mint flavored foods and I've never had any problem.  Then when I started doing research on healthy dieting, some mentioned not eating mint because it might cause problems for some people.  It never has for me, so I've continued to keep eating it.  So you might try it to see if it causes any discomfort.

LPR as far as I know; I wake up with temporary sore throats, my main symptom is a burning under my Adam's apple and I clear my throat of mucus a lot. I also tend to belch if I so much as stand up, more like "throat-belches" than normal ones.

Peppermint, spearmint, coffee and chocolate relax the GI tract including the LES. This relaxation lets the acid reflux through the lower esophageal spincter. All our docs told us this, our printed instruction sheet told us and it is mentioned upon google search. Yes, we are all different. Who knows! It would seem that the antacid makers would know this or are they maybe prolonging our problem for more business for them. Incidentally, we got strawberry GA tablets through Amazon from UK. They are easy to carry in pocket and handbag and taste okay and help too.

Daxter, so you take the tablets?? Do they help?? Im saving my Gaviscon Advance anise seed liquid because it is my last hope for LPR if thats what i have. I could also have irritable larynx syndrome.

Not all mint causes issues with the LES. Spearmint and peppermint are the 2 worst. I can have regular mint without any issues.
