Reflux post fundoplication

Hi there, just wondering if anyone has experienced reflux 3 weeks or so after surgery?

My understanding is that this happens to some people post fundo. Just because it feels like heartburn, doesn't necessarily mean that it is (it might be some sort of irritation of the esophagus). Whatever you do, don't expect the worst at this point. 

It isn't at all unusual for members of the "Wrapped" Club  to take weeks and weeks to recover. Be kind to your GI system, and all will be well. When in doubt, call your physician.

Most likely it's not true reflux, but either food sitting at the wrap or slight reflux from the wrap being swollen. This goes away as the wrap settles in. You are in the peak swelling period now and weird sensations are normal.
The esophagus is a "dumb" organ and senses any irritation as heartburn. Yes some doctors have their patients stay on a PPI for a few weeks or months during recovery.

It's WAY to early to start thinking your surgery has failed. almost everyone thinks this around 2 weeks to 2 months, but as you finish healing you will find things are much better. This takes time though and you will have to be patient during this recovery.

Read through some of the other recovery journals and you will see very similar issues.
