Jenn,One month post op is the VERY BEGINNING of your recovery. It takes a full 6 months for most of the healing and a year for the rest. You've got another 5+ months to get there, so don't be so hard on yourself and your recovery!
Did you ever hear the saying, "A watch pot never boils"? Well, it's the same with your recovery. As hard as it is to do, try to just surrender to what IS. The more you struggle against it, and wish it wasn't so, the harder it is to deal with. Your recovery is as it is. Your body is healing as quickly as it knows how. It WILL heal, and you WILL get back to living and eating comfortably, but it takes time. And it you're always struggling against your recovery, that time drags even more slowly.
As long as your surgeon is aware of the pain you're experiencing and is comfortable with your recovery, stop worrying, and start accepting. You can do this! This too, will pass!
Hang in there...Stephanie's suggestion of taking liquid Motrin is a good one. The very small quantities and early fullness is totally normal. It will gradually change over time and healing. If you choose ONLY foods that can be chewed to a liquid/creamy consistency, your mouth/teeth will be your blender, and you can enjoy eating more fully. Take small bites and only swallow things that basically disappear/get creamy when chewed. Other things should be discreetly deposited in a paper napkin you can keep handy.
Experiment with foods that can be chewed to a liquid. You'll find that there are MANY. Hang in there! We're here for you!
Happy healing,
Denise
