Dor Fundoplication vs Floppy???

What are the differences between the "floppy fundoplication"  and "dor" fundoplication? I just dont see the difference?

Hi,tracks, a floppy fundo is a full 360 degree wrap around the lower esophagus which is done loosely usually with a bougie to guage the size.A dor fundo is a approx. 180 degree or half a wrap around the back of the esophagus and is done because of an underlying motility problem.
Are you heading for surgery?

By the way im not an expert in this stuff, I could be wrong about the "dor" being wrapped around the back,it could be the front.Sorry. Barry

Hi Barry,

I am in the midst of transferring my health insurance because the surgeon I want and need does not participate in my current plan. So starting 2014 I will begin all pre-op testing and hopefully late spring I'll be wrapped up. I was a candidate for Linx this past may however my manometry came back with some bad news...weak motility. So I was told that I no longer am a candidate for Linx. So when I went to see a Thoracic surgeon and he reveiwed my manometry he did say based on those numbers he would either do a floppy fundo or a dor.

With that said he did want everything redone including a barium swallow to make a better decision as to what would help me.

I have reached a point where my baretts is spreading (not by much but nevertheless its spreading) and the PPI's are not working as well as they did. So I am surgery bound.

Sorry to hear about your manometry results.At least now you know where you stand.Your surgeon sounds very thorough aswell which is a good thing.
I had a 360 nissen wrap done with a undiagnosed motility problem and having a bad time,heading for a partial wrap now.
Hope all goes well for you and you see an end to that reflux! Barry

with the floppy wrap they also take down extra from the pancreas to be sure there is no tension on the wrap. tension pulling the wrap is a major cause for dysphagia after surgery along with too tight of a wrap.
My last 2 surgeons said they have done so many floppy wraps they can do them by feel instead of using a bougie in the esophagus.
