Bravo

I recently had the Bravo test and would offer these comments:

Procedure took only a few minutes during which I was out.
Initially when I woke up, it felt like my throat had been stretched and was full of gas. There was also minor pulling and pain in a specific spot that I could point my finger to.

This is Day 4 and that pulling and pain is almost constant. VEry uncomfortable to eat or drink. Also caused a problem with my sleep apnea equipment. I was trying to decide whether to request the pin be removed. But after reading this website it appears it's best if I wait a few days and let the pin come out by itself?

I called the clinic today and was told it could take up to ten WEEKS to come loose and pass!! A lot longer than the 10 days I was originally told.

Prior to the procedure, the word "pin" was never mentioned, only that the capsule being placed in my throat would be there about 5 days. Nothing was ever discussed about ulcers.

I still have not been told how this procedure will result in improving my reflux and heartburn. Its like the whole procedure was done just to verify my concerns about reflux. What was wrong with my word?

Mine hurt like hell. It took 12 days to come off. I told them i didnt want it but they said i had to have it done. They lie about it because they have quotas to meet. And that is the cold hard truth

Mine came off in about 10-12 days.. I had a sense of something being caught in my throat and not being able to wash it down while the capsule was still there. it was not a great feeling but I was able to deal with it. I was aware it was there but it did not HURT... maybe the doctor inserting it or the size of your esophagus makes a difference.. could not say for sure.. as soon as it came loose I was aware that the feeling of something being caught in my throat was gone.
The results of my Bravo test were what helped my surgeon feel confidant that I was in need of and a candidate for the Nissen Fundoplication. This test was the last thing my insurance company needed to approve my procedure.
I was taken off my PPI (Nexium) for 10 days. in the first 5 days I had developed ulcers in my esophagus. the Bravo proved that I was not going to be able to control my problem with medication....
I slept in my recliner from day 2 until I was allowed to go back on my PPI. Uncomfortable yes, painful.. mine was not..
