I have a hiatal hernia for 40 years happened after giving child birth. A couple times of the year I have a flair up with acid re flux, that will drag on for days and days. If I take OTC Pepcid, it will solve it but as I ease off I will get an acid rebound effect.
I've found in the past eating a Granny Smith apple stops the re flux burn. Wow I was so happy. So on this flair up I started the one a day apple trick, worked like a charm for two days.
All my life I've had allergies to high citrus foods. I Get sores in my mouth if a have fresh navel oranges more than twice in a row over a couple of days, things like that. Well now it seems that my go to re-flux savior Granny Smith apples/ just one large apple over a days time, for three days in a row, has turned and bit ME.
My mouth burns as I chew it, my stomach will burn and esophagus too shortly after. Have any of you had this reaction to what I must assume is now a citrus reaction to the Granny Smith? I guess I have to just ride this out for what was a re-flux burn now feels like an abrasion of my esophagus and stomach.
My question is if any of you out there had this issue with apples, and is it best for me to just eat bland, and wait out the healing process without taking anything else that would start the rebound effect that pepcid seems to cause me.
