I was diagnosed with acid reflux a month ago and immediately put on Omeprazole without any suggestion to change my diet (though I eliminated coffee, pop, and chocolate from my diet on my own). I've been on it for a month and it's been hell! Not only is my cough not improving, but now I've got a very painful sore throat almost daily. Hurts like heck to swallow. Plus, since starting it, I've had two sinus infections, a cold, and two bouts of pinkeye - all in a few weeks!
I completely blame the Omeprazole, so I'm taking myself off of it. Was taking it twice a day; now taking it once a day just for another day or two.
Gonna try a low-carb, gluten-free diet for a month and see if that helps. I've read about studies that had a very positive result with low-carb diets. Wish me luck...
