Omeprazole and difficulty swallowing

I just started omeprazole last week and for the past few days I have had a horrible time swallowing (I have problems with this anyway, but it's intense now). Not just with food getting stuck in my throat, but with a nerve muscle feeling that makes me feel as though I've lost the reflex to swallow. I've also had crampy feelings in my tongue and under my chin. It's almost been unbearable the past few days. Today I almost loaded the kids up and took myself to the ER.

Can anyone relate. Could this medicine be causing this reaction.

I am calling my doc first thing in the morning.

I wasn't able to get in this week and next week I won't be able to go because I am moving. Unfortunately I have to wait until the 2nd week of November.

I have discontinued using the medicine and have felt much better the past couple of days!! I still have my normal problems swallowing and the crampy tongue feeling, but nothing like it was.
