Hi guys,
I wanted to do a positive status update. Almost 2 months on strong PPI and strict diet.
I feel I made a lot of progress even though it seems really slow.
I seem to have major flare ups in check. All I feel now is minor symptoms.
It still mentally hard to be sick so long, but i have faith.
Don’t need to clear my throat, no mucous issues, no difficulty swallowing foods, throat sticking, etc.
I figure another 2-4 months this could be completely healed? I am hopeful.
Here are some tips that might help some of you:
Food log is essential… no other way u can track progress… helps you walk the straight and narrow.
I try to never eat bad food even though I feel like I am fine, I won’t deviate from the bland diet till I am healed. Minimal fats and oils. (which is almost zero for me)
Eat like a bird, frequent and small (still working on this kind of of tough)
Always be positive and don’t get stressed. I think there is a strong mental component to curing LPR.
Always be careful with new foods, assume they can hurt you. Test small portions first.
Restaurants. I pre-eat before I hang out. That way I am not compelled to eat something that might harm me. I am also able to enjoy the company of my friends.
Fiji water—seems to be the most alkaline water PH 7.8 (normal Tap water PH 6.8)
I wish every one a good weekend and to get better soon!
Be aware that gastro issues can give u food allergies that you normally wouldn't have. Right now milk seems to bother me, so i am avoiding it.
I avoid all acidic foods for now (vinegar, tomato sauce, lemon juice., orange juice) PPI handle acid in your stomach. You need to handle acid intake from foods.
Sleep on your LEFT Side. Like on your left arm. Not slightly on your stomach. If you check where the stomach lies its on the left side of the body. Sleeping on the left side its harder for reflux to occur. I have located studies which seem to prove this. It seems to work for me. I brace myself on a wedge pillow and i don't seem to reflux at night anymore.
My main idea is too minimize all potential for LES irritation. If i can accomplish this the LES will heal. Less symptoms = more healing. More symptoms = more LES irritation thus leading to longer sickness.
I hope everyone has a good weekend!
