Endoscopy on thursday

You will be taking sedation I presume?- so  a visit with the nurse, change into your gown, and when it's your turn wheeled into the room/theatre - you will be given a canula in your hand, this is where they put the sedative injection, they will explain what is going to happen, spray the back of your throat to numb it, then give you the sedative, a small mouthpiece is held by you between your teeth, then they ask you to swallow the tube - really you hardly feel it all, then by now you are maybe asleep or certainly "not with it" and they will have a good look and take biopsies, you won't feel a thing - and it will be over in 10 mins. I have had 3, one with general anaesthetic, 1 with sedation, and one with the throat spray - and they were all painless and easy. Then you will have a nice sleep in the recovery room and  then a cup of tea.

Go for half sedation.  You will be half awake.  Just be calm, i know it would be hard, i panicked when i felt the numbness after xylocaine (anesthesia) was sprayed.  I thought I cannot breathe..hehehe.. that what when i asked my doc to half sedate me.

Usually the procedure will not last more than 10 minutes. some would just be finished within 3-5 minutes.  Its actually an outpatient procedure.  You can go home after the procedure.

Still on dexilant 60 mg. its been more than a month now that I am on PPI. I am thinking of weaning from it - the general feeling of tiredness is uncomfortable plus other side effects.  I will see my doctor this saturday maybe to ask if she can taper the dose to 30 mg.

My endoscopy revealed i have esophagitis and gastritis, all other labs and ultrasound yielded unremarkable results.

The dry, itchy and sometimes sand-paper like throat feeling is still there.  Oh, my complete sinus xray showed bilateral frontal and maxillary sinusitis.  Its not suprising because i have perennial sinusitis -  i have allergy rhinitis too and asthma.

My sinusitis has not been healed. Maybe its because of the acid reflux or a side effect of PPI. I dont really know. I plan to go to a good ENT next week.
