I received the pathology results yesterday, and according to the lab I do NOT have Barrett's. And the polyp I have is hyperplastic, which I gather is a fancy way of saying it is benign. It was ulcerative, and a few other words I caught on the phone, but not precancerous, which is a blessing indeed.
Now that you have shared your Barrett's diagnosis stories, I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion? It's hard to get a second opinion, though, on a reversed diagnosis-- I received the answer I wanted. I have read that it is very difficult to diagnose Barrett's.
How would I go about finding a Barrett's expert? I've gone to the National GI websites, but there doesn't seem to be subspecialties listed?
