Hi Bill,It's great to hear how well you're doing. And at 7 weeks post-op! Just think how good you'll feel when your recovery is complete! Remember the thing we always say around here...it takes a full 6 months fro most of the healing, and a year for the rest. The later "healing", in my opinion, is just the GI tract adjusted to the changes.
Your surgeon is right...it takes time for the bloating to subside. I'll bet you still have some swelling at your early stage of recovery. (Yes, it's still an early stage.) My surgeon told me that I wouldn't be able to eat bread or steak for at least 8 weeks or so. So one day soon, you should do better with those trouble foods. Toasted bread is easy to chew to a liquid, so that's the way around the bread issue. Everyone shares certain experiences of healing, but still each is unique. Listen to your body and follow its lead. It will tell you when it's ready for those things.
The banana issue is a puzzle...it's a pretty soft food to begin with, and can be chewed to a liquid. Just keep taking small bites of whatever you're trying and chew, chew, chew, until it's a complete liquid/creamy consistency.
Thanks for reporting in!
Happy continued healing,
Denise
