Stomach pain

Hi everyone, looking for some advise.
I’m a 31 year old male and for the last couple of months have been suffering from real bad stomach pains, bloating feeling and getting generally depressed about it all. I’ve been to the doctors where they just gave me some peppermint oil – didn’t have any effect. I ended up going A&E one night as I was getting so fed up wih it. Here they predicted I had Gastritis and found trace of blood in my urine. I was given 5 days of antibiotics and Lansaprozole. This was a couple of weeks ago now and still I am suffering. Doctor has since changed peppermint oil for colofac but again still no change. Some days are better than others and I can't pin it down to certain foods/drinks. I have cut down on alcohol almost completely but again this has not made much difference. I have another doctors appointment in the new year if no better where we will talk about endoscope test to check what’s going on inside. Just wish I knew what it was causing it and how to fix this. Any ideas of how long this will last if it is Gastritis? I have had blood tests and stool samples tested and all results came back ok which can be both good news and bad news as I'm none the wiser as what's really wrong. Please help if you can.

Also, take Gaviscon chewables before bed or after your meals

Foods that are easier to digest may make you more comfortable. Try eating more protein, less fat and carbs. It is not necessarily specific foods, but perhaps groups of foods that bother you.

I have stopped peppermint as was not helping at all but have not tried stopping chocolate but will cut this out as I eat chocolate nearly every night and do wake up feeling bloated and in pain. Thanks for advise, will see how it goes.

Hi, Ive been through exactly the same as you, so i feel for you, i know how depressing it is.

Sounds like gastritis, like I had. You should really be put onto PPIs, for longer than 5 days! Standard course here is 3 months. domperidone can help nausea but it also speeds up how fast the stomach empties, and an empty stomach isnt good for gastritis.

My advice is eat frequentl, never have an empty stomach, dont eat fatty foods, dont eat acidic or spicy foods, and take some ant acids just after each meal.

it can take quite a while for things to get better, and dont start back on fatty foods once youre feeling better as youll end up back to square one, take it easy.

Well im actually feeling bad atm, but it comes and goes every couple of months, i still havent figured out exactly my triggers. I seem to have a very weak stomach so its something that I always seem to get from one thing or another. Most people will feel better after only week or two though once they are doing the right things. Depends if you have an ulcer though, or baterial infection, they take longer to clear up.

Ive had two cameras down the throat, not pleasent at all but at least it gave me a diagnosis, doesnt really help much in terms of treatment though as they usually start you on that right away.

Definitely worse in the morning, then gradually gets better throughout the day as I get more food in my stomach. I found carafate in the middle of the night helped too if your dr will prescribe you it.
