Blood in mouth in the morning

Hi Everyone,

Had a little scare this morning as I was about to brush my teeth. There was, what looked like, blood (Bordeaux in colour) mixed with my spit! Now it has been dry and I had a very mild cold, but this kinda freaked me out!

I do have GERD, and I take PPI's, and Ive had all the tests done twice, and an endoscopy done last November (which was clear).

So my questions is, does anyone else every get this in the morning? I was pretty concerned, but hoping it's nothing.

I'll see what happens tomorrow.

for me personally, in this dry winter air, I get nosebleeds occasionally at night.
Sometimes, depending on the severity, it can end up in my mouth and throat. I need to make sure that I keep a humidifier on me and I use moisturizing gel occasionally when it gets really bad.
Do you think that it might have been because of a nose bleed?

I wish that were the case. I didn't have a bleeding nose at all. It was definitely from my throat area...

I have blood in my mouth sometimes and had it this morning and think its because of the reflux. My mouth is always very dry when I first wake up and feels sore with a horrible taste. Acid reflux can cause lots of problems.

Hmm, I was just thinking that deep in your sinuses it might have gotten too dry and bloody and it went down your throat instead of coming out your nose. So gross I know.

Was there any pain associated with it? Was it old dry blood?
Could it have been your teeth or maybe did you bite your tongue in your sleep?

How long did it last? Were you spitting up blood for awhile or was it just there and then gone after you brushed your teeth?

The blood was gone once I cleaned my teeth and went on with my day. I do have some mild heartburn that has been going on for a couple days, but i've been taking twice the amount of PPI's just in case, and will continue to until the HB goes down.

I thought it was my teeth at first, you know when you floss and sometimes cut your gums? well, that wasn't it.

I will check again tomorrow and see if it happens again.

If it was just a one time kind of thing, then I wouldnt worry, but if it happens again it would be a good idea to have an ENT scope you to see if your heartburn has caused any ulceration or anything like that.
I hope it doesnt happen again!

Sometimes I get what look like blisters filled with blood in my mouth and throat, I think they come from inflammation, and they pop and the blood comes out. Could this have caused your blood in the mouth?
