Hello, recently signed up because of how much useful information I've gathered here ever since I had LPR.
Background:
I've had LPR since April 2013, when one night I was smoking marijuana and all of a sudden my throat felt really tight and my mouth stopped producing saliva. It felt like I was going to die. The typical LPR (dyphagia, parch/dry throat, hoarseness) symptoms began to manifest gradually in the forthcoming months. I started taking PPIs on May and continued for two months then stopped taking them.
I went to Dr Jamie Koufman in October and was put on a diet (which did not really help). The first pH monitor test she performed on me had everything as normal. She then put me on PPIs again (I'm still on it) and she's considering the Nissen for me if my symptoms don't get better.
I went to another doctor, a GI doctor in Einstein Hospital, and she performed another pH monitor test on me. She said in ENT perspective, it's viewed as I do have reflux but to the GI's perspective, everything is normal. She diagnosis me as Hypersensitive Esophagus and prescribed me 10mg of Imipramine before bed.
I read that people have taken Elavil for a couple of months and have felt symptom free.
So I guess the main question is which one is more effective, Imipramine or Elavil?
Thanks for reading.
